Concrete repair and leveling work on a damaged slab surface in Sioux Falls, SD

Sunken Slabs Don't Have to Stay Sunken

If you have a section of concrete that has dropped, tilted, or pulled away from the surrounding surface, concrete leveling can fix it without tearing it out. This process lifts the slab back into place by injecting material beneath it to fill the void left by settling soil.

At Elite Sioux Falls Concrete Contractor, we use polyurethane foam injection — a clean, precise, and long-lasting method that can be done in just a few hours. The foam expands beneath the slab, fills empty space, and lifts the concrete back to where it belongs. Unlike older mudjacking methods, poly foam is lightweight, sets quickly, and won't wash out over time.

We level driveways, sidewalks, patios, pool decks, garage floors, and front entry steps throughout Sioux Falls and the surrounding area. If your concrete has sunk, call us before you pay to replace it.

Where Concrete Leveling Makes a Difference

Sunken concrete is a problem in all kinds of places around your home or business. Here are the spots we level most often in Sioux Falls and why each one matters.

  • Driveways: Sunken driveway panels cause water to pool and can damage your vehicle's underside over time. Leveling restores a smooth, even surface.
  • Sidewalks and walkways: Raised or sunken sections are trip hazards, plain and simple. Leveling eliminates the lip between panels and keeps your walkways safe for everyone.
  • Patios: A tilted patio drains poorly and looks rough. We level it back to a proper slope so water runs away from your foundation.
  • Garage floors: Floor sections that have dropped near garage doors or walls can affect how the door seals and how vehicles sit. Leveling closes those gaps.
  • Pool decks: Settled pool deck sections create water drainage issues and can be a safety concern. We lift and level them without disrupting your pool structure.
  • Entry steps and stoops: Front steps that have shifted away from the house create a gap and a safety risk. We stabilize and re-level them so they sit correctly again.

If your concrete has cracked or broken along with the settling, we may recommend addressing those issues too. See our concrete repair and replacement service for a closer look at what that process involves.

Why Leveling Beats Replacing in Most Cases

A lot of homeowners assume that sunken concrete means a complete demo and replacement. That's rarely true. Here's why leveling is usually the smarter move.

You Save a Significant Amount of Money

Concrete leveling typically costs 25 to 50 percent less than full replacement. You're not paying for demolition, hauling away old concrete, new material, or the extended labor that goes with a full pour. For most settled slabs, leveling gets you the same functional result at a fraction of the price.

The Job Is Done Faster

A standard concrete leveling job takes a few hours. Replacement can take days, including curing time before you can walk or drive on the new surface. With polyurethane foam, your concrete is ready to use within an hour or two of completion. That's a big deal for driveways and business entrances.

Less Disruption to Your Property

Replacement means heavy equipment, torn-up landscaping, and a big mess. Leveling uses small injection ports drilled into the slab and leaves almost no trace once the holes are patched. Your yard, garden, and driveway edges stay intact.

When Replacement Is Still the Right Call

If the slab is severely cracked, broken into many pieces, or the soil beneath it is so badly eroded that foam won't hold, we'll tell you straight that leveling isn't a good fit. We'd rather give you honest advice than take your money on a fix that won't last. For walkways and flatwork that need a fresh start, our sidewalks, walkways, and flatwork installation service covers new construction from the ground up.

Common Questions About Concrete Leveling

Polyurethane foam is a permanent material. It does not break down, wash away, or compress over time the way traditional mudjacking slurry can. If the underlying soil is stable and the slab itself is in good condition, a foam leveling job can last 10 to 15 years or more. The main reason a slab re-settles after leveling is ongoing soil erosion or a drainage problem that was not addressed. We evaluate this before we start so we can give you a realistic expectation of how long your results will hold.

The injection ports are small — typically about five-eighths of an inch in diameter. Once the job is done, we fill and patch them with a concrete-colored material. They are visible up close if you know where to look, but they blend in well and are not noticeable from a normal standing distance. Most homeowners are surprised at how clean the result looks. This is far less visible than the crack or settled section you started with.

Not every slab is a good candidate for leveling. If the concrete has broken into many small pieces, has extensive cracking across the entire surface, or has settled so far that the edges have crumbled, replacement is the better path. We also evaluate the soil conditions beneath the slab. If there is a major ongoing drainage issue that would cause the soil to erode again quickly, we'll discuss addressing that first. We won't recommend leveling if we don't think it will hold.
